Extend The Life Of Your Xbox 360 - 4 Tips To You Should Use Now
If you are the owner of a new Xbox, setting it up so that you can use it is probably the only thing on your mind. It is human nature not to be troubled by upkeep and maintenance until it is too late.
But proper usage and maintenance cannot be ignored if you want to have years of trouble free gaming. The Xbox is a demanding device that is very unforgiving if it is not treated well. Follow the four tips listed here to increase your odds of having years of trouble free gaming:
1.) The number one enemy is heat.
Excessive temperatures will slowly break down the motherboard components. Extreme heat also causes micro cracks to form in the solder joints on the mother board.
Make sure that you do your gaming in an open and cool environment. Otherwise the cooling system won’t do it’s job properly and overheating will ensue.
Give your console a rest after one or two hours of play. Allow twenty minutes for your Xbox to idle after you’re done playing a game. This keeps any residual heat to a minimum after the cooling fans turn off.
2.) Dust accumulation inside the console is just as destructive as excessive heat.
Dust reduces the amount of cool air intake by the fans. Because dust is an insulator, it prevents the internal electronics from dissipating heat. As a result of this insulating blanket of dust, overheating occurs.
3.) Second hand cigarette smoke is bad for your Xbox.
The electronic components get coated with the sticky tars that are present in cigarette smoke. Dust then sticks to the tar that coats the electronics. Because the dust is cemented in place, vacuuming or blowing of air won’t remove it. As mentioned above, dust is an insulator.
4.) If you are considering a cooling fan that mounts to your Xbox, be very careful.
These days, there is a big selection of fans of different makes and types. Some work better than others and results can vary among users. However, none of these fans are approved by Microsoft.
Some of these fans will damage your Xbox. Don’t purchase a fan until you have read what other customers are saying about the product. If your console doesn’t overheat, then you don’t need to get one.
While the Xbox can provide many hours of pleasure, it can also deal out lots of pain if mistreated. So extend it’s life and save yourself money by giving it the proper care that it requires.
